Tom and Jerry Animation Comparison

Tom and Jerry 1960 - Funny home videos are a click away

Tom and Jerry 1960... What does this have to do with My LondonXNigeria Project. Backgrounds. Im most probably going to have a moving background in most of the pictures I would make.

the background in the earlier versions of Tom and Jerry were a lot more Full and fleshed out. Great and effective if your making a piece all about how detailed every area of where your going. but is it all necessary.

I don't think I've got all the time. to be creating full fleshed out backgrounds.

Apparently its because of the costs of things like paints and materials that would be needed. And the time restraints in creating new episodes.
Time restraints are definitely one of my issues at the moment. And I can see why simplifying things would become a lot more efficient in the 1980.

The fact that parts of what i will eb using will be animates means that i should take this into consideration. if things are really detailed but aren't going to get seen in detail then theres room for change.

I could learn from this!

Ive been drawing a lot of Complicated Backgrounds for this project, but i don't have a lot of time!

The Narrator

I had an interesting Talk with my tutor about how i could tell the story about my childhood imagenation without just drawing a load of stuff that might not lok likek it means something. After making the minni me i really wanted to try and do more with it.

Interestingly enough, i had had all the ingrediants to create a story, just like how i used to. i had the props[everything ive collected], i had the over all idea[childhood items and stuff],and i had the Narrator[my mini me].

Fundamentally i dont actually need to draw a comic to tell a story, but the idea kept coming back to me.

The talk with my tutor was helpfull because she was able to tell me how i should use the toy as the narrator since hes supposed to be a repressentation of myself. Also i could Try to find different aspects of my childhood to look at and place them on different parts of the mural, each of them telling a story.

Ravana kidnapping Sita and fighting Jatayu

This is a great illustration, but the more i look at it the more i understand the point of it, and the narration. The clothes that there wearing, im sure that before humans were created, the "gods" didnt wear Human clothes. but its done so that people can understand and relate. so if i were to create something people could relate to....[children] the idea could work. Dosnt need to be a comic, just have the right sort of messages in the piece.

"What About Indian EPICS"

look at that blue demon! isnt he scary! and Rama comes to save to day!

Ive been looking them up! i havent heard the stories sfor a long time, but remember thinking it was sooo cool the way that some of their stories were told and think that it would be a great starting point for creating a dynamic story with dynamic images! infact their loosely related to Chinese Epic stories.

At the moment i could aproach the use of these stories and epics in theses ways:

-How about Recreating them, but using figures of my imagenation?

-Taking characters from theses stroies and recreating to story, things i used to do with the old toys i had.

-Find out more stories from different times of my childhood to and trying to represent them all.

ill find a way, but im approching more and more to the idea of telling a known story, even tho i want to make up my own, like i did as a youth.

what convays the message better....? HOLD UP!!!! WHAT ABOUT AFRICAN EPICS!!!!???!?! DIDNT THINK BOT THAT! WOULDNT THAT JUST BE SO COOL! AFRICAN NINJAS!

Children.... and Coffee....

Discussions ive recently have had have been changing the way that i see my project. i think that it is important for me to think more about what i want to illustrate, rather than how im going to illustrate it.

A the father of a friend of mine had an interesting conversation with me in a starbuck :S . We were basically talking about how different educational stages of your life have different stages of creativity. ¬_¬ i wish i recorded the conversation. we were originally talking about how he liked the fact that i have a compulsion to act like a child hehe. I said thats just me. He said "It feed your creativity, shows that you have a connection to your childhood and how important you think it was for your creativity".

I brought up the fact that when you were in primary school you were aloud to be as backwards with things as you liked. i cant really describe it, but there's was no Icon of how you should make your work, like style wise.... but as soon as you hit secondary school.... YOUR WORK MUST LOOK LIKE VANGOH or LERANARDO. i supposes it makes sence since most people start to understand what they want to when trying to draw like piccasso lol.

but then as soon as you go to uni, they make things completely different??? you have to revert back the the whole what seems backwards way of thinking.. like you did when you were in like year 3. A bit odd. but i think im starting to understand this alot more.

- INFACT! the other day i was showing my brother whos doing GCSE art my old exam sketch book. IT WAS SO GOOD! lol i can totally see why i got an A. not really because of the quality of drawing, but because of how i tryed to aproach ideas differently, rather than just thinking ok, i wanna make mine pretty. But come A level i didnt think like that. my drawing skillz improved alot, but my reserch was all over the place. i looked at things... but i didnt SEE them. hehe where as when you a Child you actually study things when you look at them... CHILDHOOD MUSEUM! IM COMING!

maybe its just because my brain was developing. NEWAY! ENOUGH RANTING HERES SOME WORK!

I HATE COFFEE! SO I DECISIDED TO MUCH UP COFFEE BEANS AT STAR BUCKS!!! GRRRRR ended up making pretty pictures and typography :) Naomis the name of the girl whos father had the conversation with me. shes a dancer!
